Since childhood I have always enjoyed being creative with a needle and thread. I was taught at school how to do basic embroidery and make my own clothes, but my formal textile training began in 1997 when I enrolled on the City & Guilds Creative Stitched Textiles Certificate course, followed by the Diploma.
I enjoyed ‘A’ level Art at school and my textile work is always underpinned by my love of drawing, this is translated into stitch by ‘drawing’ with the machine needle in free machining. My most recent work has been inspired by plants, with mono-printing forming the base layer and then applying hand or machine stitch to complete the finer details.
